Train Ride Through the Dry Landscape and Happy Ending

Sometimes, I struggle with whether it is interesting enough to post travels days, but then again, that is all part of the trekking experience. Some days are filled with long, sometimes tedious, train rides and changing landscapes. Today was one of those days.

Leaving Zaragoza, the terrain chained quickly to sandy desert and efforts at cultivation.

The longer the ride, the more desolate the landscape.

Then the train crested, dropped over a coastal range and suddenly life got much greener.

Arriving in Barcelona, I transferred to a local train that chased the coastline northward, to meet my friend Cynthia.

Once she picked me up, we drove to where she and Rainer (her husband) had recently moved into a small piece of heaven. Their home looks to be an outcropping of a Villa’s former wine cellar.

The Villa stands just meters away, up the hill, and provides a Spanish resort feel to a beautiful setting.

Cynthia and Rainer have a beautiful home and I am especially lucky to have been their guest both in Frankfurt, Germany, and now Barcelona.
